Dr Stewart graduated from Medicine with Honours from the University of Newcastle and obtained her Masters of Public Health from the University of NSW. After training at Royal North Shore Hospital she was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and completed Advanced Training in Cardiology. Dr Stewart undertook a Fellowship in Echocardiography at St Vincents Hospital during which time she developed her expertise in echocardiography, stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography and cardiac failure.
She has presented at many national and international meetings and is widely published in a range of research interests including echocardiography, heart failure, pre-operative assessment and rheumatic heart disease in Indigenous communities.
As well as consulting at Baringa private Hospital she is the Director of Cardiology at the Coffs Harbour Base Hospital and consults at Mid North Coast Cardiac Services
